Shirley Mae Elmore, age 81, of Garden City, died Friday, January 12, 2018 at The Beacon in Lake Crystal.
Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at Northview and will continue one hour before service on Wednesday. Interment will be in Garden City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Shirley’s name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation to help combat this terrible disease.
Shirley was born March 24, 1936 to Murrell and Pearl (Stanley) Clark in Pilot Grove, Minnesota and graduated from Elmore High School. Shirley was united in marriage to Mervin O. Elmore on September 17, 1955 in Elmore, MN. Shirley worked for the United States Postal Service for 31 years, 22 as Postmaster in Garden City, before retiring in 2001. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Shirley is survived by her two sons, Douglas (Karrina) Elmore of Good Thunder and Kenneth (Mary) Elmore of Huntley, IL; three grandchildren, Cecilia and Olivia Elmore, Marc Elmore; great-granddaughter, Braelyn; sister-in-law, Elsie Clark of Young America and several other brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mervin in 2003; brother, Clayton; sister, Evelyn (Darold) Tesch.
