Alvin Larson, Jr.

Alvin “Al” Larson, Jr., 80 of Mankato, died January 11, 2018 at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.

Memorial service will be 11:00a.m., February 1, 2018 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Minneopa Cemetery at a later date. The family prefers memorials be given to Mayo Hospice, Mankato.

Al was born June 30, 1937 to Alvin, Sr. and Thelma (Erickson) Larson in Mankato. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1955. In 1957, he married Carol Sievers in Butternut at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Together they raised five children, Vickie, Bradley, Mark, Beth, and Michael. Al managed the hardware department at Madsen’s/Randall Valu Center. He retired in 1999 after 36 years of service; and then he and Carol wintered in Rockport/Fulton, Texas for 15 years.  Al enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, hunting, and especially his trips to Canada with his fishing buddies.

Al is survived by his wife, Carol of 60 years; children, Vickie (Steve) Larson Foix of Lake Crystal, Bradley (Beth) Larson of Woodbury, Minnesota, Mark Larson of Castle Rock, Colorado, Beth (Brian Kuch) Larson Kruger of Victoria, Minnesota, and Michael (Debbie) Larson of Prior Lake, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Glenys (David) Thorsen of Burnsville, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Anna (Kurt) Sumption, Delores Sievers, Joanne Sievers, and Linda Sievers; brothers-in-law, Clyde (Charlene) Sievers, Bill (Gail) Sievers, and Stan (Joye) Sievers; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law, Harriet and Bev Sievers; and brothers-in-law, Frank and Ivan Sievers.
