Bryce M. Olson, 62, of Eagle Lake, passed away on December 30th, 2017 at home.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2018 at Epiphany Lutheran Church, Eagle Lake with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Bryce was born November 25, 1955 to Marvin Olson and Madeline (Wahl) Nelson in Madelia. Bryce graduated from St. James High School in 1974 and Mankato VoTech in 1976 in autobody repair. Bryce was married to Brenda Sodeman on May 7, 1977 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. James. They had 2 sons, Jacob and Thomas.
Bryce worked for 37 years at Jerry’s Body shop and the past 2 years at Holiday Inn Express. Bryce had been active in Jaycees and was a JCI senator. Bryce was mayor of Eagle Lake from 1989-1994. Bryce enjoyed fishing trips, hunting, weekends at the lake and spending time with his family, his Lake family, and especially his grandchildren. He had a newfound love of cooking on his Green Egg and enjoyed sharing recipes and techniques with his son, Thomas. Bryce also loved home improvement projects with his son, Jake, and watching cartoons with his grandchildren. He was a great guy with a heart of gold and will be remembered for his quick wit, storytelling, and unconditional love for his wife and family.
Bryce is survived by his wife, Brenda; son, Jacob (Jodi) Olson and their children, Brydon and Kyah of Janesville; son, Thomas Olson of Seattle, Washington; brother, Irving (Joyce) Sandberg of Waverly, Iowa; brother-in-law, Steve (Sue) Sodeman of St. James; sisters-in-law, Linda (Paul) Romine of Columbia, Missouri, Deb (Scott) Fogal of Mankato, and Carol Sandberg of St. James; and many nieces and nephews and relatives.
Bryce was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill Sandberg, Steven Sandberg, Michael (Pat) Sandberg, and Todd Olson.
