Joe was born March 12, 1984 in New Ulm to Leonard Huiras and Gail (Brandel) Bromenschenkel. Joe grew up in Sleepy Eye and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School. He was united in marriage to Stacey Jo Plahn on December 30, 2005 in Mankato. Joe worked much of his adult life at Angie’s Kettle Corn before obtaining his real estate license in his last year of life.
Joe’s welcoming nature and smile made him fast friends with nearly everyone who met him. Joe’s genuine and vibrant spirit touched the lives of many, especially as he fearlessly and humbly battled the effects of a rare genetic disorder, which ultimately cut his life short. Despite his too-short time with us in this life, he managed to fill the lives and hearts of those who knew him. Joe simply loved life and enjoyed golfing, hunting, and watching sports with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and true friend. Joe’s never-ending determination, fighting spirit, quiet courage, and constant faith were an inspiration to everyone. To say he is greatly missed is a massive understatement.
Joe is survived by his wife Stacey and his two daughters Maddie and AJ, his parents Gail and Leo Bromenschenkel, siblings Adam (Heather) Huiras, Mike Huiras, John (Tracie) Huiras, and Paul (Elizabeth) Huiras, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Leonard Huiras (1985) and sister Kathryn Huiras (1978).
Memorial contributions may be made to Dyskeratosis Congenita Outreach, Inc. or to a scholarship fund that has been set up for his two daughters at https://www.gofundme.com/joesgirls.
