David Harold Sullivan

David Harold Sullivan, 79 of North Mankato, died Saturday, December 9, 2017 at home.

Visitation will be held from 4-7pm, Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary with a prayer service starting at 6:40pm. Funeral Mass will be 11am, Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior. Memorials are preferred to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, American Lung Association for pulmonary fibrosis research, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. David was born March 31, 1938 in Minneapolis to Harold and Louise (Gibson) Sullivan. He graduated from De La Salle High School in 1956. On September 1, 1961, David was united in marriage to Patricia Benesh at St. Helena Catholic Church in Minneapolis.

David worked for Minnegasco (later, CenterPoint Energy) for 41 years until he retired as a supervisor in 1999. In retirement, he stayed busy by volunteering at the hospital. He also volunteered at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Environmental and Worship Committees. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, board member of the Welcome Inn, and served as a guardian ad litem for Blue Earth County. In his spare time, David enjoyed curling, socializing with family and friends, and going on vacations.

David is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Patricia Sullivan of North Mankato; daughter, Julie Mize of Minneapolis; son, John (Carrie) Sullivan of Gillette, WY; “number two son,” Mike (Missy) Pederson of Shakopee; grandchildren, Amber O’Connell, Zachary Baker, Shelby Sullivan, Isabelle Sullivan, and Aaron Sullivan; great-granddaughter, Kaylee; brother, Dennis Sullivan of Bloomington, Michael Sullivan of St. Paul, and Linda Sullivan of Richfield; two nieces; one nephew; and many cousins and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.
