Lowell Arthur “Tony” Osmundson, age 84, of Mapleton, died Sunday, December 3, 2017, at the Mapleton Community Home.

Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 9, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton.  Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Friday at the church and continues one hour prior to the service on Saturday.  Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Mapleton.  Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Tony was born July 11, 1933, in Lyra Township, Blue Earth County.  He was the son of Arthur and Ancile (Doyen) Osmundson.  Tony attended Mapleton Public Schools through the 8th grade.  He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1955-1958.  He was united in marriage to Benita H. Jones on February 8, 1960, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.

Tony was a life-long farmer and also worked for the Monsonto Warehouse located in Mapleton.  He was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton where he was baptized and confirmed.  In his retirement years he enjoyed helping area farmers with field work.

Tony is survived by his daughters, Lynn Krueger of Alden and Lee (Tim) Solie of Mapleton; sons, Paul (Susan) Osmundson and Gary Osmundson, all of Mapleton; grandchildren, Mark and Ross Krueger, Andrew and Katelyn Osmundson, Paige, Clay, and Abbie Osmundson, and Grant and Hannah Solie; one great-grandson, Samuel; sister, Harriet (Orville) Halverson of Mapleton; also aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Benita in 1972; son-in-law, John Krueger; and a brother, Darrell “Ozzie” Osmundson.
