Jeanne was born in Cooks Valley, Wisconsin (Bloomer, WI) on November 30, 1927 to Bernard and Alice (Sweeney) Stoffel in her family home. She attended St. Johns Parochial grade school in Cooks Valley and graduated from McDonnell Parochial High School in Chippewa Falls, WI. She then attended State College in Eau Claire, WI. In 1947, she married Joe Blackman in St. Paul. They were later divorced.

Jeanne worked for 28 years in various retail clothing businesses in Mankato, her last being Brett’s Department Store, which she enjoyed. After Brett’s closed, she worked at the downtown Hy-Vee store as a food demo person, meeting and helping people, which she enjoyed immensely. She went back afterward to visit.

Jeanne loved the outdoors and growing her precious flowers and herbs on her deck. They filled her days. She was a voracious reader and loved her crossword puzzles. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church as long as she’s lived in Mankato.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Alice Stoffel; sister, Elaine Murphy; brother-in-law, Paul Murphy; nephews, David and Michael Murphy; and precious granddaughter, Jamie Lee Byers.
