Marietta "Liz" Cox

Marietta “Liz” Cox, age 82, of Mankato, died on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. 

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary.  Visitation will be Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Northview.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato.

Liz was born on July 2, 1935 in Minden, NE to Kenneth and Margaret (Hawe) Barnes.  She grew up in Nebraska.  On January 5, 1963, Liz was united in marriage to David Cox. They moved to Mankato in 1968.  Liz worked as an administrative assistant at Minnesota State University, Mankato for 19 years and retired in 1995.  She was a member of the Moose Lodge women’s auxiliary.  Liz enjoyed reading and especially enjoyed a trip to Rome to meet the Pope.   

Liz is survived by her children, Stephen (Kandi) Cox, Susan (Myron) Wieland, and Patrick Cox; grandchildren, Cory Cox, Kyrstin (Kevin) Korhonen, Kelsey Cox, Stephanie Wieland, McKenzie (Brian) Borth, Jason (Laura) Adams, Hannah Wieland, Evan, Reece, Cooper, and Dalton Cox; great-grandson, Karsen Korhonen; brothers, Richard (Jennifer) Barnes and Robert (Sandy) Barnes; and sister, Karen (Richard) Deems. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; and brother, John Barnes.
