Eileen Fay Weller, age 77, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at her home in Mankato.

A Celebration of Eileen’s Life will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary.  Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday at Northview.  Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Loyola Catholic School or Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice.

Eileen, the youngest of 3 children, was born on March 16, 1940, to Phillip and Tina Wibben on the home farm in George, Iowa.  Her family then moved to Sibley, Iowa where she attended school until graduating from Sibley High School in 1958.  After graduating she attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Mankato, MN.  Eileen worked at the Mankato hospital for 40 years in the nursery and labor & deliver department.  She was always saying, “I like them coming in instead of going out”.

It was in Mankato she met the love of her life “Don” and was married on February 3, 1962 – two sons were born from their marriage.  Eileen was an avid sports fan, especially the MN Twins and Gopher basketball.  She enjoyed watching her granddaughters’ activities, baseball bus tours and traveling to the NCAA “Final 4” at various locations across the country.  Eileen also loved going “Up North” to Park Rapids and spending time at the lake with her kids and grandkids.

Eileen is survived by her husband Don of 55 years; two sons, Eric (Carie) and granddaughter, Zoey, and Matthew (Wendy) and granddaughters, Mara and Macy; one sister, Phyllis Voss of Rochester; one brother, Marlyn (Ethel) Wibben of Little Rock, Iowa; also many other relatives and friends.

A special thanks to family, friends, and Mayo Hospice for taking care of Eileen.
