Armand was born March 21, 1927 to Joseph and Alvina (Nundahl) Paulson in Hanska the 2nd of 9 children. He was baptized and confirmed at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church. He attended country school in Hanska and continued his education at vocational school studying electronics. He learned mechanics from neighbors and if something needed repair, he could fix it. He worked on various neighboring farms and raised turkeys and pigs on the family farm and broke horses in his youth. Armand served his country with the US Army during the Korean War from 1952-54 and was honorably discharged as a Corporal.
Armand married Dorothy V. Seppman on October 9, 1954 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Mankato. Armand worked for Mark Coughlan Vending Machines for 11 ½ years as an amusement machine technician and then started his 24 year career at Gustavus Adolphus College as an audio-visual technician in St. Peter, retiring in 1991. After retirement he worked on the family farm, doing house remodeling and treasured spending time with family and friends, especially the Paulson Reunions in Hanska.
Armand loved traditional country music and bluegrass, enjoying many Bluegrass festivals in Garden City for several years. Many family vacations were taken traveling in the old blue Chevy pickup with the homemade camper. He played the fiddle and mandolin in the family band and loved playing hymns and “old-favorites”.
