Donald Dale Shubert, 82, of Mapleton, died Friday, October 27, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.
Visitation will be held from 4-7pm, Thursday, November 2, 2017 at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Mapleton. Memorial Mass will be 10:30am, Friday, November 3, 2017 at the church with visitation one hour prior. Private burial at Calvary Cemetery, Mapleton. Memorials are preferred to Mapleton Fire and Rescue or Mayo Clinic Palliative Care. Please share a memory of Don with his family at www.mankatomortuary.com.
Don was born January 9, 1935 in Pipestone, MN to Emil and Margaret (Peters) Shubert. On March 9, 1957, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Backlund in Pipestone. Don was a livestock buyer for 35 years until his retirement. He was also a charter member of Lura Lake Aeration Corp. and former captain of Mapleton Fire and Rescue. For many years, Don was active with the Heather Curling Club and made ice in the arena. He and Marjorie enjoyed wintering in Arizona for over 20 years.
Don is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Marjorie Shubert of Mapleton; son, Mike (Peggy) Shubert of Woodbury and their children, Matt and Joe Shubert; daughter, Patty Osmundson of Sioux Falls, SD, and her children, Dania (Chris) Helgeson and Michael Osmundson; son, Robert (Lisa) Shubert of Mapleton and their children, Sam and Nick Shubert; sister, Orphadel Bruggeman; sister-in-law, Rosalie Shubert; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Geraldine (Virgil) Serie; brother, Alvin Shubert; brother-in-law, Len Bruggeman; and grandson, Patrick Shubert.
