Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. Tuesday October 31, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Burial Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation 4 – 7 p.m., Monday at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospice or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Phyllis Mary Anne Tyson was born on March 11, 1929 to Arthur (Bud) and Verna (Fredricks) Tyson. Phyllis graduated from Mankato High School in 1947. She worked at the Blue Earth Co. Courthouse. Phyllis married the love of her life John (Jack) Olinger) on Aug 12, 1950. Phyllis’s dream was to have a large family and she dedicated her life to them. Jack died unexpectedly on Oct 1, 1996, and Phyllis’ life changed forever, but she kept bravely forging on. Phyllis was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She enjoyed card playing, ceramics and spending time with her family. She is survived by all 9 of their children - Sandy (Denny) Swanson, Kris (Bill) Sampson, Dave (Christie) Olinger, Mary (Dwayne) Pipping, Bill (Amy Brandel) Olinger, Dan (Barb) Olinger, Joe (Amy) Olinger, Randy (Cara) Olinger, and Fred Olinger. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; step fathers, Warren Hubbard & Al Kolling; stepsister, Nancy Peck; stepbrother Tedd Hubbard; daughter-in-law, Sandie Olinger. The family would like to thank Laurels Edge and Mayo Clinic Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.
