Margaret Loretta Midthun

Margaret Loretta Midthun, age 92, of Mankato, died Monday, October 23, 2017 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.

Memorial Service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mankato.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will take place at 10am, Monday, October 30, 2017 at Calvary Cemetery, Mapleton. Margaret was born June 16, 1925, in Mankato. She was the daughter of William and Marie (Lyons) Germo. She attended commercial college following her high school graduation.  Margaret was united in marriage to John Midthun in Brooklyn Park on November 7, 1956.  John was a proprietor of a glass business in New Ulm. They then moved to Fargo where John pursued an opportunity with a larger glass company. Her beloved husband tragically passed away at an early age, and Margaret returned to Mankato to care for her parents. She was employed as a bookkeeper for 65 years, working in local companies in Waseca, New Ulm, Fargo and Mankato.  Margaret was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She gave generously of her time volunteering with her church, FISH, Meals on Wheels and the Salvation Army.  She enjoyed helping others, cooking, card games, watching sports, shopping and spending time with her friends and family.

Margaret is survived by her sister-in-law, Ellen Albertson of Stillwater and her family; and her nephew, Mike Germo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brother, Willard Germo; and nephew, Frank Germo.
