Rosemary Anna Sargent, 77 of Mankato, died surrounded by her family on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Pathstone Living from a heart-related illness.
Visitation will be held from 9am-11am, Saturday, September 16, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Mass at 11am. Following Mass, a reception will be held at church. Private family graveside service will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. The family prefers memorials be given to a charity of the donor’s choice. Rosemary was born October 13, 1939 to Michael and Lucy (Danberry) Oehler on a farm north of Madison Lake. As a child, her family moved often, as her father worked for the REA installing electric lines across the Dakotas. The family eventually settled on a farm south of Mankato. She graduated from Good Counsel Academy in 1957. On July 9, 1958, she married Donald Sargent. They raised three children and were married for 59 years.
She worked for Mankato Photo, A&W Drive-In, and Happy Dan’s Market for many years. Rosemary was an avid bowler and loved her flower gardens. She loved to plan birthday celebrations and decorate tables and rooms. She also took special care of her grandchildren, family, birthday girls, and many friends.
She is survived by her husband, Don of Mankato; son, Daniel (Debbie) of Mankato; daughters, Deborah (Dan) Hollerich of Minneapolis and Linda (Matt) Gibson of Madison Lake; brother, Michael (Patti) Oehler of Missouri Valley, IA; grandchildren, Ben Sargent, Jack (Mina) Sargent, Mike Sargent, Emily (Eric) DiLorenzo, Ethan (Rachel) Gibson, and Kelsey Gibson; step great-grandson, Trevor DiLorenzo; sisters-in-law, Joann Sargent, Fran Sargent, and Dee Ann Winkler; uncle, Henry Torgerson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Oehler; aunt, Shirley Torgerson; brothers-in-law, Dale and Darwin Sargent; and many aunts and uncles.
