Charles “Charlie” Petrie, age 79, of Mankato, died on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Pathstone Living.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Northview. 

Charles was born on April 16, 1938 in Jersey City, NJ to Arthur and Alice (Irving) Petrie.  Charlie moved to Mankato after serving as a paratrooper in the United States Army.  On November 15, 1986, Charlie was united in marriage to Rita Hanson in Mankato.  Charlie loved his wife and family.  He enjoyed sitting on the deck and taking in the sunshine.  He loved desserts, going out for coffee, a good cigar, riding his trike, and woodworking.  Charlie found a lifelong support and friendship with his AA buddies.   

Charlie is survived by his wife, Rita; children, Jay Petrie, Bradley Petrie, and Patrice Shifra; grandchildren, Kayla Jobe and Kyle Jobe; siblings, Arthur Petrie, Gregory (Doris) Petrie, and Alice (Rob) Augustine; sisters-in-law, Nancy Petrie and Joan Petrie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins very dear to him. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Petrie and Robert Petrie; sister, Mary Valenti; and nephew, Joseph Valenti.
