D. Marie Tyson died peacefully in Oak Terrace on September 2nd, 2017 in North Mankato, MN at the age of 80.
Marie is survived by her siblings Norman (Roseanne) Carlson and Helen (Roger) Lindstrom of Mankato; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Doris Carlson, Rita Sweiger, and Thelma Mathwig; and brother-in-law, David “Bill” Sweiger of Mankato.
Marie was born the fourth of six children on July 22, 1937 in Mankato to Arvid and Elizabeth (Bierl) Carlson. She attended Good Counsel Academy and graduated in 1955. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles with her sister, Doris, where she lived until she returned to Mankato in 1971. Upon returning, she worked for The Holiday Inn / Best Western and then Carlson Craft until she retired in 2007. Throughout her life, Marie cherished her annual trips to Mexico with friends, playing sports, watching the Twins, gourmet cooking, and spending time with her family.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato with visitation starting at 9am. Reverend John Kunz will officiate. A reception will be served following the Mass. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
