Lorraine M. Bates

Lorraine M. Bates, age 90, of Mankato, died on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Autumn Grace.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 10 at 11:00 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  Visitation will be one hour prior at the church.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Lorraine was born on August 20, 1926 in Renville, MN to Emerson and Mabel (Maas) Warner.  She graduated from Mankato Normal School and the Mankato Teacher’s College.  She received her master’s degree from Mankato State University.  Lorraine was united in marriage to William Bates on June 24, 1948.  She was an elementary school teacher and spent most of her career in Nicollet.  She lived on Lake Francis for many years.  Lorraine loved playing cards, especially pfeffer. 

Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Diane (John) Gannon; sister, Joyce Sinko; granddaughters, Jessica Flatequal (Maria Bevacqua) and Heather (Jason) Knudson; step-grandchildren, Tina (Brian) Holcombe and Tiffany Gannon; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Liberty, Blake, Charlie, and Chase; and nephews, Tom Bates and Todd Bates.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Michael Bates; and grandson, Jerry Bates.
