Laura Jean Denn, 53 of Mapleton, died Friday, August 4, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System – Methodist Campus in Rochester after a short, courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held from 4-7pm, Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton and also one hour prior to the service. A Celebration of Laura’s Life will be held at 2pm, Thursday, August 10, 2017 at church with Reverend Jan Crissinger officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Mapleton. Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Laura was born October 23, 1963 in Mankato to Gary and Sandra (Jacobsen) Cooper. She married Gary Denn on June 25, 1983 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton. Laura worked at Dietz Foods, Young American, and Denn Well Service. For the last 20 years, she was employed at Carlson Craft, first as a typist and later in the shipping department.
Laura enjoyed family road trips, watching the Minnesota Twins, and going to Bon Jovi concerts. She held a special place in her heart for her two sons, who have since grown up to be young men. Laura was glad she was able to be part of Nathan and Liz’s wedding in August 2016. Her kind and caring heart, selfless nature, and generous personality will be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Gary Denn of Mapleton; sons, Nathan (Liz) Denn of Eagle Lake and Travis Denn of Mapleton; parents, Gary and Sandra Cooper of Good Thunder; sister, Kim Schoneck of Good Thunder and her children, Justin, Jordan, and Britney; mother-in-law, Dolores Denn; brothers-in-law, Steve (Joyce) Denn, Rick Denn, and Bruce (Lorry) Denn; sisters-in-law, Karen (Sig) Peterson, Gloria (Mitch) Stencel, Barb (Jim) Wede, Lori (Jeff) Bammert, and Patti (David) Karnick; and many other nieces and nephews.
Laura was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Loren Denn; and sister-in-law, Gloria Denn.
