Larry Lloyd Stensrud, 69 of Eagle Lake, died surrounded by family on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Oaklawn Healthcare Center in Mankato after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.
Visitation will be held from 4-7pm, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary. Memorial service will be 1pm, Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake with visitation one hour prior. Larry was born on August 14, 1947 in Fargo, ND to Lloyd and Ruby (Olson) Stensrud. He graduated from West Fargo High School in 1965 and attended North Dakota State University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. On August 7, 1971, Larry was united in marriage to Ann Aaberg in Starbuck, MN.
Larry taught math in Jackson, MN from 1970-1971. In 1973, he and Ann relocated to Mankato and Larry began working for the Department of Transportation. He worked in the field as an inspector and later as a Construction Materials Technician and Supervisor before retiring in June 2011 after 38 years.
Larry was a member of the Lions Club, Bowling Association, and a charter member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, socializing with friends, playing and watching sports, grilling, and spending time with family. He was fun, friendly, and had a quick wit.
He is survived by his wife, Ann of Eagle Lake; daughter, Katie (Tim) Horvat of Mankato; son, Matthew (Annie) Stensrud of Minnetonka; grandsons, William Horvat, Nicholas Horvat, and Maxwell Stensrud.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and twin brother, Garry Lloyd Stensrud.
