Billy Lee Burgess Sr.

Billy Lee Burgess, age 70, of Mankato, died on Monday, July 24, 2017 at his home.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary.  Burial with military honors will follow at Minneopa Cemetery. 

Billy was born on September 29, 1946 in Blue Earth, MN to Milton and Betty (Hynson) Burgess.  Billy served in the United States Army and the United States Navy.  On March 2, 2001, Billy was united in marriage to Rosemary Cepenos.  He was a very hard working man who was lots of fun and such a likeable person.  Billy was a volunteer with the DAV.  He enjoyed fishing, fast cars, spending time with family and friends, and was a big Minnesota Vikings fan. 

Billy is survived by his wife, Rosemary of Mankato; brothers, Mike (Deb) Burgess of Mankato, Gigger (Rosemary) Burgess of Mankato, and Mark (Rachel) Burgess of Mankato; children, Scott Burgess and his children, Scott Jr., Cody, and Tiffany of Mankato, Amy (Scott) Larsen and her children, Bradley and Marissa of Lake Crystal, Billy Burgess Jr. and his children, Jadyn, Gaige, Avery, and Jackson of Mankato, Heidi (Brian) Veith and her children, Wyatt, Kelsey, and Kiley of North Mankato; step-sons, Clark Roberts and his children, Britany, Zachary, Cory, Cody, Briannan, Alexandra and Xavier of Mankato and Luther Roberts and his children, Teagen, Mya, Ella, and Ava of Lake Crystal; and many great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laurie Grundhoffer; two granddaughters, Heather and Heidi; and brother, Tubby Burgess.
