Dorothy Ann Asleson

Dorothy A. Asleson, age 86, of Mankato, formerly of New Hope, died on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at New Perspective Assisted Living. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 14 at 11:30 a.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ.  Visitation will be Friday from 9:30-11:30 at the church.  Private burial will be at Glen Haven Cemetery in Crystal, MN. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association or the donor’s choice. 

Dorothy was born on November 4, 1930 in Mapleton to John Melvin and Louise (Busse) Johnson.  She graduated from Mapleton High School.  She continued her education at Mankato Commercial College.  On March 15, 1953, Dorothy was united in marriage to Arden Asleson in Mapleton.  Dorothy and Arden lived in New Hope for many years and she retired from Cargill.  Shortly after Arden’s death, Dorothy moved to Mankato in 2011.  She was a longtime member of Elim Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale and was a member of the Red Hat Society.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. 

Dorothy is survived by her children, Bev (Doug) Wood, Mike (Judy) Asleson, Sandy (Marc) Feldbrugge, and Linda (Jim) Voda; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Julene Hartfiel; sisters-in-law, Thelma Asleson, Sharon (Lowell) Kutches, and Mary Johnson; brother-in-law, Allan Asleson; and many nieces and nephews.
