Paul Ritter
Paul F. Ritter died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in Columbus, OH. Paul was a resident at Feridean Commons Assisted Living Facility in Westerville, OH. Paul was a lifelong resident of MN, but moved to Ohio in February, 2017 to be close to his son Doug and his family.
Paul was born January 3, 1920 in Winnebago, MN to Ann and Frank Ritter. He graduated from Winnebago High School and was drafted into the Army in 1942. He served in the Army from 1942 until October 1945. Paul married Margaret Vial in 1941. She had three children at the time of their marriage. Paul and Margaret then had a son, Doug Ritter in 1942.
They lived and raised their four children in Winnebago until they moved to Lake Crystal, MN in 1962. Paul worked for Production Credit Association in Mankato. He retired from there in 1985. Paul was an avid sports fan and a great golfer. He enjoyed fishing with his family and friends and was a great dancer. Paul was an inspiration to many people and many of his younger relatives said they hoped they could pattern their lives after Paul. He was a very kind caring person and never had a bad word to say about anybody.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret in 1978 and his daughter’s Virginia, Jean (Ritter) Strand, and son, Jim (Marlan) Ritter. His survivors from that marriage are son Doug (Julie).
Paul married Virginia Hobart in 1986 after being a widower for eight years. Virginia (Ginny) preceded Paul in death in 2015. Paul is survived by Ron (Kathy) Hobart and Bob (Teri) Hobart from the marriage.
Paul’s other family survivors include his brother, Bob (Pricilla) Ritter and sons and daughter; his sister Jean (Ritter) Schultz and daughters and son.
Paul’s additional surviving relatives include Joann (Bill) Richmond and their daughters. Paul also has many great and great-great grandchildren who have become very attached to Paul over the years living so close by to him.
Paul was one of the most likable people in the world and as such has many close friends. He was loved by all and will be missed by all who knew him.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Winnebago. Visitation 4 – 6 p.m., Wednesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour before the service at the church.
