Ray “Gus” E. Gustafson, age 86, of Garden City, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Hillcrest Health Care Center, Mankato.

Funeral Service 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 16 at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before service on Friday. Interment in Garden City Cemetery.

Ray was born January 29, 1931 in Mankato to Ray and Janet A. (Nelson) Gustafson, Sr. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1949.  He served his country with the US Army from 1953-55, stationed in Germany.  Ray was united in marriage to Shirle Y. (Winters) Hollerich on September 21, 1975.  Ray owned and operated, Ray’s Standard Service Station in Garden City.  He enjoyed town team baseball, hunting, fishing, golfing, gambling in Vegas with Shirle, and spending time with his family.

Ray is survived by his sister, Sue (Don) Crane of Garden City; three step-children, Judy (Ken) Truebenbach of Big Fork, Kathy (Gordon) Oachs of Garden City, and Jane (Dean) Caldwell of Amboy; step-daughter-in-law, Sandy Hollerich of Mankato; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and extended family.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirle on June 26, 1990; two step-sons, Jim Hollerich and Dennis Hollerich.
