Mildred Wakefield

Mildred H. Wakefield, 93 of Lake Washington, passed away peacefully May 27, 2017 at Oaklawn Healthcare Center in Mankato with family by her side.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Church of Christ, 900 State Highway 99, in Cleveland with the reverend John Kester officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Savidge Lake Cemetery.

Mildred was born March 30, 1924 to William O. and Bessie (Schaumburg) Halverson in rural Blue Earth. She was united in marriage to James G. Wakefield on June 12, 1949. She was a homemaker all of her life. Mildred enjoyed cards, painting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Russell) Rieffer of Lake Washington; sons, Darrell Thomas of Lake Washington, William (Julie) Wakefield of rural Mankato, and James (Julie) Wakefield of Mankato; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Evangeline Mortvedt; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, James; daughter, Darlene Erickson; sisters, Betty Oliver and Joyce Schulenberg; and brothers-in-law, Jay Schulenberg and Oris Mortvedt.
