Therese C. Simmonds, age 58, of Mankato, died peacefully at her home, after a long illness, surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 21, 2017.
A Celebration of Therese’s Life will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before service on Thursday. Private family interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Memorials may be given to Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice – Mankato, BENCHS, or the donor’s choice.
Therese was born August 26, 1958 to John E. and Joanne M. (St. Peter) Simmonds in Mankato. She graduated from Mankato East High School in 1976, Mankato State University in 1980, and Hamline Law School in 1983. She started working with her father and her brother-in-law, Michael Wright at Simmonds, Simmonds, and Wright in 1983, which later became Simmonds and Wright after his retirement. She was a member of the Minnesota State Bar, Minnesota Association for Justice, and the American Trial Lawyer Association. She supported the World Vision Fund and BENCHS. Therese enjoyed reading, shopping, collecting crystal, needlework, traveling, trips to the Casino, and time with her friends.
Therese is survived by her siblings, Ann (Michael) Wright of Mankato, Marie Simmonds (Rick Otto) of Mankato, Christine Simmonds (Brad Mutsch) of Mankato, Joseph (LaDonna) Simmonds of St. Paul, and Susan Simmonds of Mankato; nieces, nephews and their families, Elaine (Nick) Wise and children, Frankie and Jonas, Cassandra (Bill) Bowser and children, Louise and Helen, Jane (Justin) Ek and son, Milo, Molly Otto, Wesley Otto, Margaret Simmonds (Chris Gambile) and children, Eithen and Harrison, Tony Landkamer, and Joseph Simmonds, Jr.; her dog, Gwenmarie; extended family; special long time family friends, Verna Hager, Julie Grant, and other close friends.
She was a very generous, smart, funny person who will be deeply missed by all of those who loved her. Therese was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
