Arvid Green

Arvid I. Green, 84 of Mankato, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Oaklawn Healthcare Center in Mankato.

A committal service for Arvid will be held 12:45 p.m., Monday, May 1, 2017 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Arvid was born November 14, 1932 to Marvin and Nellie (Franks) Green in Star Lake Township, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Air Force and Marines during the Korean Conflict. He married Mary Elizabeth Koppersmith in 1954. Together, they had one daughter, Wilhelmina. Mary Elizabeth died in 1959. Arvid retired in Owatonna, Minnesota and eventually moved to Mankato to be closer to family. In his free time, Arvid enjoyed raising ducks and chickens and loved to cross stich.

Arvid is survived by his daughter, Wilhelmina (Ed) Sargent; grandchildren, Robert (Ginia) Sargent, Amy Grewe, Eric Kroner, Jennifer (William) McLarty, and Angel Sargent; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Marion Hemmen; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parent; wife, Mary Elizabeth; grandson, Phillip; great-grandson, Jonathan; and sister, Mary.
