John Richard Roozen, age 88, of Lake Washington, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather died peacefully Tuesday, April 25, 2017.

Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Immaculate Conception of Marysburg Catholic Church, Madison Lake, MN. 

John was born March 21, 1929 to John Joseph Roozen and Florence Evelyn Doyle in Conrad, MT. John was united in marriage to Kathleen Laven in 1949 and had three children. Later he was united in marriage to Eileen Thilgen on June 28, 1975, in Mankato with three children. They were married for 37 years. An electrician most of his life, he began as an apprentice with Julian Laven, and later worked for Continental Can for 30+ years. John was an active member of Immaculate Conception of Marysburg Catholic Church. He loved projects around his house and for family and relatives. He was the most giving, caring man who would do anything for his family and friends. We all have great touching stories about how he helped us. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

John is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (Don) Gosch of North Mankato, Debra Woitas of North Mankato, Nancy (David) Gosewisch of Good Thunder, and Kim (Scott) Umhoefer of North Mankato; grandchildren, Angela (Eric) Casteel, Brooks (Kali) Gosch, Emily (Robyn) Gosch, Millicent Roozen, Sean (Madeline) Roozen, Charles Roozen, Bambi (Gary) Dubke, Nicole Enge, Dave (Jill) Kinney, Jennifer (Drew) Nerdahl, Brian Gosewisch, Danny Umhoefer, Bobby (Paige) Umhoefer, Ryan Umhoefer;12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donnie Wingert and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Roozen; wife, Eileen Roozen; son, Charles Roozen; daughter, Peggy Kinney; grandsons, Nathan Kinney and Jonathon Woitas; granddaughter, Kelly (PJ) Spielman; great-grand daughter, Skyla Spielman; and sibling, Eveyln Hagen.
