Joyce Lamae Padilla (Nielsen), 81, of Mankato, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017, where she will be interred with her husband and three children at Pilgrims Rest, Mankato, MN. 

Joyce was born on May 19, 1935 to Carl and Linnie Nielsen in Mankato. She married Edward Padilla on December 8, 1953 in St Peter, MN. Together they lived many places in the United States, including Alaska, due to Edward’s Army career and settled back in the Mankato area.

Joyce loved dancing, gardening, traveling, babies, and spending time with the grandchildren. She was generous, and loved her family above all else. She always had room at the dinner table for you, or to cut your hair if you needed it.

Joyce is survived by two daughters, Roxanna Padilla of Lake Crystal, MN and Dawn (David) Danielson of Garden City, MN; grandchildren, Jasmine, Lindsey, Amanda and Aaron; three great grandchildren, Diondre, Braxton and Brennan; sister, Donna Larson; brother-in-law, Moses (Susan) Padilla and Rudy (Gloria) Garcia; sister-in-law, Adelle Jacobs; and scores of nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Carl (1965) and Linnie (1993); loving husband, Edward (2005); children, Cheryl (1956), Tammy (1959), Randy (1963); and 9 siblings.
