Eleanor Veronica Diedrichsen, age 102, of Mankato died Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Brookdale in Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Birthright or the School Sisters of Notre Dame retirement fund. Eleanor was born October 27, 1914 to Henry and Margaret (Corbell) Ulmen in Mankato. She married Allen J. Diedrichsen on October 26, 1945 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. She worked as a bank teller at the Mankato Bank of Commerce, was a homemaker for her family, and was a 2nd Mom to her husband Allen’s Boy Scout Troop. Eleanor enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage, walking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Eleanor is survived by her two sons, Robert Diedrichsen of Mankato and Richard (Cathy) Diedrichsen of St. Cloud; three grandchildren, Bobbie (Charlie) Barrett, Douglas (Melissa) Diedrichsen, and Stacie (Tony) Kuefler; nine great-grandchildren, Calista, Christopher, and Lane Barrett, Isaiah, Alta, Andrew, and Violet Diedrichsen, Bryce Larson, and Abby Kuefler; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen in 2007; infant son, James Allen; two sisters, Laurine and Margaret; and two brothers, Walter and Vernon.
