Marlin Frank Reedstrom, age 88, of Plymouth, formerly of Lake Crystal, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Summerwood Presbyterian Homes of Plymouth.
Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., April 22, 2017, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 222 Pfau Street, Mankato, MN, with Rev. Patrick Patterson officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Private interment with military rites will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials given to Summerwood Presbyterian Home of Plymouth, 16205 36th Avenue Plymouth, MN 55446.
Marlin was born July 7, 1928, to Frank and Lydia (Kriel) Reedstrom, Rapidan. After graduating from Rapidan High School in 1946, he enrolled in Mankato State Teachers College while working for Crystal Cooperative, Lake Crystal. Marlin married Charmaine Jones September 7, 1951. Marlin served his country from 1950 -1953 as Corporal with U.S. Army Security Agency stationed in Fort Richardson at Anchorage, Alaska as Crypto Specialist. After the service, Marlin farmed his family farm with his father and resumed employment with Midland Cooperatives later becoming manager of the Crystal Co-op. Marlin became a Director of Regional Services (DRS) for Midland Cooperatives serving cooperatives in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa, a position he continued when Midland’s agricultural division was sold to Land ’O Lakes. Marlin enjoyed reading, growing roses, playing cards and ping-pong, traveling, farming, and spending time with his family.
Marlin is survived by five children, David (Carol) Reedstrom of Rapidan, Denise (Dick) Clarke of Chanhassen, Gregg (Julie) Reedstrom of Rapidan, Steve (Trish) Reedstrom of Rapidan, Marce (Rick) Larson, of Minnetonka; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Winter of Janesville, Lorraine (Sam) Riffle of Beaverton, OR, and JoAnn (Chester) Yabitsu of Agoura Hills, CA; brothers, Lowell (Sharon) Reedstrom of North Mankato, Dale Reedstrom of Martinez, GA, and Bob (Virginia) Reedstrom of Prescott, WI; also many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife; infant brother; one grandson; sisters-in-law, Janice Reedstrom, Charlene Street, and Ellyn Frye; brothers-in-law, Martin Winter, Leonard Street, and William Frye.
