Norma A. Wiechert

Norma Albertha Wiechert, age 66, of Lake Crystal, died Saturday, April 8, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester.

A Private family service will be held with interment in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Norma was born December 26, 1950 to Karl and Grace (Johnson) Karels in Estherville, IA. She attended Lake Crystal Schools and graduated from Mankato Cosmetology School. She married Francis “Frank” A. Wiechert on August 28, 1972 in Sioux Falls, SD. Norma worked at Elsie’s Beauty Shop, I.D. Products (Sween Corp.), Lake Crystal Schools as a cook, and Collis C-Store. Norma was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal. She enjoyed reading, gardening, puzzles, cooking, riding bike, and spending time with her family.

Norma is survived by her husband, Frank; two sons, Daniel Wiechert and girlfriend, Grace Armendariz, Dave (Lisa) Wiechert; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Jayne) Karels, Duane (Sharon) Karels, Mark Karels, Dwight (Cindy) Karels, Loren (Robin) Karels, Scott (Jan) Karels, and Sandy Karels; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James Karels and Maurice “Moe” Karels; sister-in-law, Marcia Karels.
