Sally Ann McGraw

Sally Ann (Evans) McGraw, born January 31, 1950, in Mankato, MN, and died April 3, 2017, in Chicago, IL. Dearly beloved wife of John. Loving mother of Michelle Kathryn Trela and Erin Kathleen (Nick) Fiore. Cherished grandmother of Mairead, August, and Lucio. Dear sister of Cindy and the late Diane and Jerry. Fond sister-in-law of 12.  Aunt and friend of many.

Sally grew up primarily in Mankato, and in 1966, she met John McGraw.  On November 29, 1968, they wed. From 1970 to 1971, she waited anxiously until John returned home safely from Vietnam.  In 1976, they had their first daughter, Michelle, and in 1981, their second, Erin.  Over the next decade, they moved throughout the Midwest until finally settling in suburban Chicago in 1994. In 2002, Sally found one of the greatest joys of her life when she became a grandmother for the first time to Michelle’s daughter, Maggie. In 2006, she welcomed her first grandson when Michelle had a baby boy, Gus. And in 2015, Erin gave birth to her 3rd grandchild, Lucio.

Sally’s heart had no enemies. Throughout her 67 years, she touched everyone who knew her with her vast love. And one of her very favorite ways to show her love was to cook! No one will ever forget Sally’s cooking. She was never happier than when she was in the kitchen, preparing an endless array of delicious food. It is an understatement to say that she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorial Mass will be Monday, April 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.  Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at church.  Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery Monday at 1:35 p.m.
