Cleo J. Reed, 89 of Mankato, died peacefully in her sleep Monday, March 27, 2017 at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 3, 2017 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. Visitation will take place from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N Riverfront Dr., in Mankato and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Cleo was born in New Ulm, MN on September 13, 1927 to Andrew and Veronica (Traurig) Klingler. She grew up in the New Ulm area and graduated from New Ulm High School in 1945. Cleo married Ray Reed on April 27, 1949 in St. George, MN. Together they raised 8 children. Cleo worked in food service at both Mankato State University and District 77. Cleo was a proud member of the American Legion Post #11 Ladies Auxiliary and Catholic Aid. She spent many hours volunteering around the Mankato area including the hospital, the Red Cross Bloodmobile, and MRCI Thrift Store.
Cleo is survived by her children Mike Reed of Gresham, WI, Jim (Barb) Reed, Ron (Kathy) Reed, Deb (Ed) Stevens of Eagle Lake, Pam Schwarz, Vicki Reed, Bob Reed, and David Reed; sister-in-law, Arlene Klingler of New Ulm; 9 grandchildren, Amy (Jake) Jensen, Jessica (Tim) Rustad, Tina (Bryan) Cornell, Chad (Lindsay) Reed, Tony Stevens, Joni (Jessie) Schauer, Ashley Reed, Tracy Stevens, and Kimberly Reed; 12 great-grandchildren, Alissa, Gage, Shane, Henry, Carter, Christian, Luke, Jacob, Emmalyn, Rilynn, Brady, and Kingston; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by, her parents; husband Ray in 1992; two sisters, Angeline Brunner and Lorraine Isenberg; brother, Stanley; and daughter-in-law, Katie Reed.
