Phyllis Hiniker

Phyllis C. Hiniker, 88 of North Mankato, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at her home.

Memorial service will be 1p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Dr., in North Mankato with visitation one hour prior to the service. Private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.

Phyllis was born December 20, 1928 to John and Josephine (Mayer) Krier in Mankato. She graduated from Good Counsel Academy in 1946 and was a member of the first graduating LPN nursing class of St. Joseph Hospital. On January 23, 1951 she married Christopher J. Hiniker. Together they raised seven children.  Following her husband’s death, Phyllis continued their family business, Hiniker Saw Mill until her retirement. She was a charter member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a Catholic Daughter, and in the Catholic Order of Foresters. In her free time, Phyllis enjoyed feeding the birds and gardening. She will be remembered as a hardworking, independent, and loving family woman who will be greatly missed by many.    

Phyllis is survived by her children, Gerry (Linda) Hiniker, Steve (Julie) Hiniker, LuAnn (Don) Hiniker Olson, Al (Brenda) Hiniker, Mary Jane (Joe Butzer) Hiniker, and Dorothy Jo Hiniker; grandchildren, Jared (Carmen), Sarah (Travis), Jason (Carolyn), Jesse (Ranae), Robby (Michelle), Todd, Emily (Charles), Kristine (Evan), and Christopher (Elizabeth); 9 great-grandchildren; brother, William “Bill” Krier; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Christopher J. in 1980; daughter, Elaine Marie in 1967; and one great-grandson.
