Judith (Judy) Watson Schraml, age 70, passed away on March 16, 2017.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Mariano Varela, IVE officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be 2:30 p.m., Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.
Judy was born in Omaha, Nebraska on August 17, 1946 to Charles and Bonnie Watson. A graduate of Mercy High School, she was proud to have been selected by her senior classmates to depict Mother Catherine McAuley for Mercy Day. She spent her young adulthood in Omaha pursuing her post-graduate education and was active in community groups including the LaSalle Club. She developed a love of travel and traveled to many places abroad. She also traveled the west coast in support of Robert F. Kennedy's presidential campaign. After her marriage, she moved to Mankato, Minnesota to start a family. She remained a volunteer and supporter of many causes including La Leche League. She returned to school to finish her education and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a Bachelor's Degree in computer science and was a member of the national honor society of Phi Kappa Phi. During her career, she was a programmer for Clear with Computers (CWC) and James Tower Media Design.
She was a dedicated Minnesota Twins fan, holding season tickets for many years attending playoff games, two World Series, spring training and an All-Star Game. She continued to travel throughout the country taking her children on many memorable family vacations. A lifelong learner, she read often and remained very interested in news and current events. She loved her pets including Rags, Pepsi and Kirby. She enjoyed keeping up with and talking about her two grandsons, Tyler and Macksten. She also was proud of her many granddogs.
Judy is survived by her brother, Dave C. Watson; daughter, Christine (Joe Yechout) Schraml; son, Mike (Becky) Schraml; and grandsons, Tyler and Macksten.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles D. Watson; and mother, Bonnie A. Watson (nee Spellman).
