Dean Robert Peters, age 89, of Good Thunder, passed away on March 1, 2017 at home on the farm.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the church. Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. 

Dean was born on March 21, 1927 in Mankato, MN to Leonard and Ida (Heitner) Peters. He was baptized on April 24, 1927 at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, and was confirmed on April 6, 1941 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Mankato. He attended country school in rural Garden City.

Dean served in the Army from January of 1951 through January of 1953. He served six months in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 616 in Good Thunder, and was also a member of the VFW Post 950 in Mankato. Dean was united in marriage to Norma (Bergemann) on June 22, 1952 at St. John Lutheran Church.

Dean is survived by his wife of 64 years, Norma; children, Russell (Connie), Lynn, Terry (Tami), and Robert; son-in-law, Dale Heins; grandchildren, Nathan (Dana) Heins, Shawn (Angie) Heins, Mitchell (Stacey Laven) Peters, Terry Dean Peters, Trevor Peters, Tara (James) Salge, Leslie (Eric) Barr, Megan (Derek) Zenk, Tasha (Martin Cano) Peters, and Betsy (Joel) Bertram; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn; daughter, Jean; two brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.
