Ruth A. Gag

Ruth Adeline Gag, age 93, of North Mankato, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living facility in North Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2017, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato.  Burial will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato.  Visitation will be on Friday, March 3, 2017, one hour prior to the service at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Ruth was born in Madelia, MN on March 5, 1923 to Miles and Rosie (Jacobson) Smith.  She grew up in the Madelia area, graduating from Madelia High School in 1941.  She met and married Norbert Adolph Gag on January 18 , 1944 in New Ulm.  Ruth worked for Sears for 19 years leaving to be semi-retired.  She then worked at Gag’s Camper Way in Mankato until taking full retirement after her 80th birthday.  During her semi-retirement, Ruth and Norbert spent winters in Bradenton, Florida.  She liked to dance to old-time music, read, play cards and spend time with her family.

Ruth is survived by five children:  Marvin (Myrna) Gag of North Mankato; Larry (Irene) Gag, Mary (Gerald) Doring, Patty Blair & Nancy (Steven) Braun all of Mankato; five grandchildren:  Heidi Poole, Dan Gag, Kristin (Eric) Pederson, Suzanne (Jared) Ziemke & Craig (Amanda) Doring; ten great-grandchildren;  Aubree, Marin & Brody Pederson, McKenna, Marley, Jackson & Jett Ziemke & Colin, Caden & Macie Doring; one sister, Lila Larson; one sister-in-law, Beverly Smith, and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert in 2008; her son-in-law, Steven Blair in 2011; four brothers; parents; parents-in-law; brothers-in-law; and sisters-in-law.
