Timothy Jay Gens, 57, passed away on Friday, February 3rd at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 8th, 1959, to Ron and Shirley (Schlekau) Gens. He graduated from Mankato East High School in 1977. In 1979, he married his high school sweetheart, Teresa Puskedra. He was employed by Midwest Electric for 36 years until the plant closed. He worked part-time doing concrete work with Starrett Construction.
Tim was an active man. He enjoyed playing volleyball, softball, golfing, fishing, hiking, hunting, bicycling, working on vehicles, Ford muscle cars, his hunting dog, riding his Victory motorcycle, snowmobiling, taking trips up north, and especially spending time with his 5 grandsons.
Tim is survived by his wife, Teresa, and their three children; daughter, Amie (Steve); sons, Nate (Missy), and Michael Gens; grandsons, Hayden, Ethan, Owen, Wyatt and Hudson; father, Ronald Gens; brothers, Scott (Tammy) and Terry Gens; sisters, Debb Pongratz (Tom), Jenny Larson, and Laurie Gens; also his several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Christopher; mother, Shirley Gens; grandparents, Walter and Corneila Gens and Leon and Marie Schlekau.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7pm, Thursday, February 9th at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato, MN 56001. Funeral service will be 11am, Friday, February 10th at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with visitation one hour before the service.
A great husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will be forever missed and is in Heaven above hunting alongside his bird dogs.
