Jeffrey David Javens

Jeffrey David Javens, age 44 of Mankato, died Friday, January 13, 2017 of an unexpected medical event.

 

Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday January 19, 2017 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato with Pastor Patrick Patterson officiating. Private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m., Wednesday at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to his children’s college fund or Boy Scout Troop 76 of Mankato.

 

Jeffrey David Javens was born December 15, 1972 to Duane and Jean (DeMartelaere) Javens in Mankato. Jeff graduated from Mankato East High School in 1991 and from Minnesota State University in 2006. Jeff started his career working for Michaud Cooley Erickson as a mechanical engineer. He was united in marriage to Heather Kostboth on December 21, 1996 in Beresford, SD. Jeff returned to the family business Javens Mechanical Contracting Co. eventually becoming its president. He also, along with his family, founded Javens Family Vineyard and Winery here in Mankato.

 

Jeff was a member of Association of Builders and Contractors Minnesota Chapter and was currently on the board of directors and was president elect. He was a member of the Minnesota Grape Growers Association, Minnesota State Construction Advisory Board and a charter member of the Maverick Hockey Blue Line Club Jeff was also very active in Boy Scouts of America and was Scout Master of Troop 76. Jeff was himself an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed pool league, golfing, camping, boating and most of all, his family and friends.

 

Jeff is survived by his wife, Heather; four children, Avery, Fletcher, Cole, and Nora; parents, Duane and Jean Javens; sister, Karmen Javens Bauer, all of Mankato; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Anita Kostboth of Beresford, SD; sisters-in-laws, Paige (Gareth) Davies of Madison, SD, Heidi (Greg) Binstock of Sioux Falls, SD, Gretchen (Chris) Petersen of White Bear Lake, MN; nieces and nephews, Mariah and Luke Bauer, Piper Davies, Peter and Clara Binstock, Lars and Sofie Petersen; many cousins.

 

Jeff was preceded in death by his brother, Bryan.
