Nancy Frances Griese, age 81, of Mankato, died Friday, January 13, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2017 at Crossview Covenant Church, 2000 Howard Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato and will continue one hour before service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Minneopa Cemetery, rural Mankato. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Nancy was born October 24, 1935 to Walter Irvin and Ruth (Bunnell) Treat in Austin, MN. She graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1953 and from Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL in 1957 with a degree in business administration. She later graduated with a degree in Music from Mankato State University in 1971. After Wheaton College she worked for a time in New Jersey, then in Kansas City for the social security administration, and then in Minneapolis at the Veteran’s Hospital. Nancy married Charles E. Griese on October 3, 1973 in Sioux Falls, SD. In Mankato, Nancy was a substitute music teacher for District #77 for many years and an election judge for the city of Mankato for over 10 years. Nancy played piano and organ for over 25 years at the former Trinity Church of North Mankato. She also played for church service at Oaklawn Health Care Center for many years. She enjoyed attending the Mankato Symphony, Friendship Club at Crossview Covenant, and traveling, especially to the Canadian Rockies.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Charles of Mankato; son, Chuck of Milwaukee, WI; two brothers-in-law, Lewis Griese of Miltona, MN and Jim Ingenthron of Dakota Dunes, SD; sister-in-law, Deanna Griese of Alexandria, MN; nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Lewis; sister, Marjorie Watts.
