Dawne Marie Clapper

Dawne Marie Clapper, age 78, of Lake Crystal and Sun City West, AZ, died Monday, January 9, 2017, at Crystal Seasons in Lake Crystal.

Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m., Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Mankato Mortuary.  A Celebration of Dawne’s life will be held later this summer.  Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.  Memorials may be given to the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center in Phoenix, AZ.

Dawne was born November 3, 1938, in Rochester.  She was the daughter of Guy and Caroline (Duncan) Thompson.  Dawne was a 1956 graduate of Dodge Center High School.  She was united in marriage to Barry Clapper on June 9, 1956, in Dodge Center.

Dawne was a homemaker for her family.  She also operated her own craft store, “Serendipity” in Waseca and was a licensed cosmetologist.  Dawne was a member of the Dodge Center 7th Day Baptist Church, Zonta, Merely Players, and Mankato Riverblender's Wives Club.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, decorating, reading books, watching old movies, volunteering for Hospice, and traveling to their winter homes in Florida and later Arizona

Dawne is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Barry Clapper of Lake Crystal and Sun City West, AZ; two children, Kerry (Deborah) Clapper of Clermont, FL and Suzanne (Henry) Harazin of Lake Crystal; six grandchildren; three sisters, Hope Holz of Albert Lea, Sharon (Darrel) Darr of Dodge Center, and Suzanne Pennington of Rochester; also seven nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Heidi Marie.
