Clarice Florence Schmitz, age 87, of Mankato, died at Hillcrest Health Care Center where she had been a resident the past 9 ½ years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Clarice was born on March 1, 1929 to Joseph and Clara (Dorn) Schmitz in Mankato. She graduated from Loyola High School in 1947 and Mankato Commercial College. She worked various jobs in the Mankato area. Clarice then spent many years being the care taker for her mother. Clarice was a lifelong member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she sang in the St. Cecelia Choir. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters. Clarice’s life revolved around her family and faith.
Clarice is survived by two sisters, Sr. Gladys Schmitz SSND of Mankato and Joan Schmitz of North Mankato; brother, Jim (Rose) Schmitz of North Mankato; nieces and nephews, Joe (Patty) Schmitz of AZ, Jim Schmitz of NV, Kay (Ron) Keller of Faribault, Ken (Lorena) Schmitz of Wilmar, Julie (Andy) Larson of St. Paul, Kristyn (Steve) Hewitt of Mound, Joan (Steve) Andersen of CA, and Jerry (Sarah) Schmitz of Minnetrista; 18 great nieces and nephews; 12 great-great nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Pat Bowen of Mankato. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Clara Schmitz.
