Theodore "Ted" Roelofs

Theodore Herman Roelofs, age 92, of Vernon Center, passed away peacefully on December 3rd, 2016 at Pathstone Living in Mankato, MN.

A Funeral Service will be held on December 18, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Vernon Center.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be at St. Matthew’s Catholic Cemetery in Vernon Center.  Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please gift to American Legion Lake Crystal, St. Mathews Church or Pathstone Living.

Theodore was born October 7, 1924 to John and Maria (Noy) Roelofs in Herwin, Holland. In 1947, at the age of 22, Theodore immigrated to America with his brothers and sister, and began working on his relative’s farm in Vernon Center.  Theodore served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the states during the Korean War. He returned to Holland to visit family and married Marie Hoogveld on May 10, 1955. They returned to America and purchased their first farm in Good Thunder, eventually moving to Vernon Center. He continued farming until his retirement in 1980, and moved into Vernon Center. He continued to help on the family farm with his nephew, Hank Roelofs through the 1990’s. He also took several trips back to Holland to visit with family. Ted spent his last two years at Pathstone Living in Mankato.  Ted was a member of the Lake Crystal American Legion Post 294.

Theodore is survived by one sister, Til Brandts of Mankato; one sister-in-law, Catherina (Toos) Roelofs of Mankato; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Theodore was preceded in death by his parents; ex-wife, Marie; three brothers, Gerard, Bill, and Harry; and one sister, Maria.
