Lavon Daniel “Fritz” Burdick, 91, of North Mankato, died on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Pathstone Living.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Monday from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Northview- North Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Lavon was born on July 30, 1925 in Vernon Center, MN to Harold and Carrie (Thew) Burdick. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1943. Lavon served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946 during World War II. He graduated from the Dunwoody Institute. On March 10, 1962, Lavon was united in marriage to Sally Thompson in Hills, MN. He worked at Schuldt Printing from 1948-1978. He then worked at Carlson Craft from 1978 until retiring in 1998. Lavon was a member of the American Legion, was a Webelos leader, and involved with the Boy Scouts. He was very active at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Lavon loved baseball, especially the Minnesota Twins. He was able to watch them at the World Series in 1991. He also enjoyed many baseball tours around the United States. Lavon and Sally enjoyed traveling, from their trip to England, Scotland and Wales to the Black Hills and the North Shore. He was a big fan of the Minnesota State Fair. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Lavon is survived by his wife, Sally of North Mankato; son, Kurt (Denise) Burdick of Mankato; daughter, Jill (Mike) Tiffany of Spearfish, S.D.; grandchildren, Hannah and Samuel Tiffany of Spearfish, S.D.; sister, Ruth (Gene) Resch of Jackson, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucile (Mel) Johnson; and brother, Edward Burdick.
