Karl Milton Fredericksen, age 92, of Lake Crystal, died Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 5, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal, with Rev. Randal Lubbers, officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at Lake Crystal Mortuary, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church.

Karl was born October 23, 1924 to Lavritz and Anna (Swenson) Fredericksen in Garden City, MN.  He graduated from Garden City High School in 1943.  He served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Karl was united in marriage to Helen Arlene Caudle on July 19, 1947 in Vernon Center. Karl farmed in the Garden City and Lake Crystal area and did carpentry work.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal, where he was an elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, superintendent, and church treasurer. He was a member of the John Roth American Legion Post 294 of Lake Crystal and was part of an Honor Flight to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. He enjoyed golf, watching baseball, and reading.

Karl is survived by three children, Janice (Robert) Baier of Rochester, Susan Blythe of Lake Crystal, and Jeffrey (Karri) Fredericksen of Lake Crystal; eight grandchildren, Hope (Mike) Aikens, Nicole (Ghassan) Madkour, Chandler (Jenn) Hegg, Karla (Kris) Dutton, James Blythe, Anna Blythe and friend, Mike Henningson, Kiera (Joshua) Voelker, Thea (Cody Lillo) Fredericksen; nine great-grandchildren; brother, John (Janice) Fredericksen of Lake Crystal; brother-in-law, Dean Mertesdorf of Mankato; several nieces and nephews.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlene on March 22, 2009; son, David; brother and sister-in-law, Anton and Ruth Fredericksen; sister-in-law, Shirley Mertesdorf.
