Chrystal B. Erickson, age 99 of Mankato, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 24, 2016 at Old Main Village, her home the last 16 years.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2016 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato, Rev. Patrick Patterson officiating. Visitation will be 4 - 6 p.m., Thursday at Mankato Mortuary, and one hour before service on Friday. Celebration reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Christ the King Lutheran Church (Mankato), First Lutheran Church (Le Sueur), or donor’s choice.
Chrystal Belle Erickson was born November 1, 1917 to Louis J. and Alice (Tucker) Brunk in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Following high school, Chrystal received her Bachelor’s in Education from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater. Her teaching career was in Barron, Wisconsin as a high school accounting and typing instructor. Chrystal was united in marriage to Marlyn Erickson February 6, 1949 in Rice Lake Wisconsin. They later moved to Le Sueur, Minnesota to begin a career with State Farm Insurance. Chrystal moved to Old Main Village, Mankato in September, 2000 to be closer to her family.
Chrystal was a member of First Lutheran Church in Le Sueur, and later Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato. She was active in the Le Sueur Hospital Auxiliary, bridge clubs, and bible study groups. Chrystal enjoyed attending Mankato Symphony, MSU Theater, music concerts, and her grandsons sporting events. She loved to swim, golf, bowl, play tennis, and spend time at the lake. Chrystal highly valued her life and activities with the Old Main Village community and her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Steve) Hasse of North Mankato; two grandsons, Christopher (Katie) Hasse of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Alex Hasse of Des Moines, Iowa; brother-in-law, Woody (Donna) Erickson of Dodgeville, WI; nephews, nieces including Mary Jane (Henry) Drinken of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Susan (Bill) Gordon of Lake Forrest, CA; and cousins.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband Marlyn in 1982; aunts Lillian (Erick) Peterson, and Marie Adams.
