Elizabeth “Betty” Bailey, age 91, passed away on November 20, 2016 at Laurels Peak Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Garden City Cemetery. 

Betty was born on November 9, 1925 to Johanna Grunzke (Gosch) in Minnesota Lake. Following a move to Mankato at age 9, she was raised as an only child by her mother and two aunts, Marcella Gosch and Gertrude Grunske. She attended Mankato High School and graduated in 1943. Betty was an active sewer in 4-H and sewed her first wedding dress at the age of 16. On April 17, 1946, she was united in marriage to Dwight “Tim” Bailey and they had three children together. 

Betty worked at various retail stores in Mankato before settling at home and taking care of her family. She was a member of the church Circle Group in Garden City, a Sunday school teacher, and continued to stay active in 4-H as a leader. Betty enjoyed drinking coffee, riding motorcycle with her husband, and spending time with her family. She was artistic, creative, and extremely talented when it came to sewing. Betty will be remembered for her generosity and constant love and support.

Betty is survived by her three children, Terry (Diane) Bailey, Scott (Kathy) Bailey, and Beth (Robert) Kewatt; grandchildren, Danelle (Jim) Granger, Todd (Carolina) Bailey, Dawn (Morgan) Kirkland, Steve Baker, Trisha (Travis) Nelson, Stefan Kewatt, and Cameron Kewatt; great-grandchildren, Mckenna Granger, Sterling and Hamilton Kirkland, and one on the way, Isabella Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two aunts; and her husband in April of 1996.
