Jean F. Thomas, “Grandma T”, age 92, of Lake Crystal, died on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at Laurel’s Peak in Mankato.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 21, 2016 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the Women in Military Service for America Memorial or the donor’s choice.
Jean was born on December 11, 1923, in Blue Earth County, MN to Earl and Susie (Raines) Robinson. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1942. Jean served her country in the US Marine Corp. from October 16, 1944 – June 28, 1946. On November 27, 1948, Jean was united in marriage to Vern Thomas at the Thomas Family Farm. Jean worked various places throughout her life, Sears, C & N Sales, Queen Frocks, and Brett’s Department Store. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Crystal and the American Legion. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading the dictionary to learn a new word every day, and baking.
Jean is survived by two daughters, Joan (Lonny) Hughes of rural Lake Crystal and Tami Thomas (Dan Lyons) of North Mankato; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Kopischke of Lake Crystal and Janice (Roger) Creamer of Greenwood, MN; brother, Lowell (LaVoris) Robinson of Tucson, AZ; sister-in-law, Marion Thomas of rural Hanska; and many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vern in 1951; and daughter, Jane Thomas.
