Lifelong Mankato resident, Robert “Bob” Wold, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016 due to congestive heart failure.
Bob was born on February 19, 1948 to Edward and Bernice (Hessing) Wold. He was a 1966 Mankato High School graduate. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy on July 5, 1967 and completed two tours in Vietnam. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Fleet Marine Combat Operations Insignia and one Bronze Star; and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal before being honorably discharged on May 21, 1970. Bob attended post-secondary school at Mankato State and Mankato Technical School where he studied Art. Bob married Shirley Ackerman on May 14, 1977. They were blessed with two children, Sarah and Jenny. Bob owned and operated Creative Exteriors until his retirement in 2005. Bob loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and time spent at the family farm.
Bob is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughters, Sarah (Jed) Heuer and Jenny (Alex) Goff; five grandchildren, Blake Wold Seys, Jack Heuer, Max Goff, Lindy Heuer, and Emma Goff; sisters, Carol Larson and Susan (Steven) Christensen; sisters-in-law, Kay Wold and Judy (Jerry) Finnerty; and father-in-law, Harold Bergseth.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James; and mother-in-law, Nora (Ackerman) Bergseth.
A memorial service will be held at 11am, Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato with visitation one hour prior. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Graveside service with full military honors will take place at Minneopa Cemetery.
