Phyllis Marion Mullin, age 99, of Mankato, passed away on November 10, 2016 at Pathstone Living. Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, Mankato. Interment will be at Sterling Cemetery in Mapleton. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m., Monday, November 14, 2016 at Olson Tichenor Funeral Home, Mapleton and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Phyllis was born to Ray Nelson Mullin and Jessie Helen (Ackerman) on September 27, 1917 in Sterling Township, MN. She attended School District #30 located five miles west of Mapleton, which is commonly known as the Johnston School. Phyllis was employed at Northwestern Mutual Insurance until her retirement. 

Phyllis was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Hiking Club, and Church Circle. She spent many hours doing volunteer work, such as serving Meals on Wheels.  Phyllis enjoyed going to the thrift shop, birdwatching, traveling, and was an avid knitter and quilter. She was down-to-earth, moral, faithful, never judgmental, and cared for her family. Phyllis will be remembered for her thoughtfulness and sense of humor. 

Phyllis is survived by her nephews, Don (Arlene) Appel of Mapleton, Tom (Kelly) Appel of Mountain Lake, Jim Appel of Heron Lake; and widow of Dick Appel, Donna Appel of Mankato; great nieces and nephews, Bill, Theresa, Jason, Daniel, Amanda, Tanya (Ed) Vogel, Darla (Dan) Welp, Matthew Appel, Debra (Matt) Mosloski, Nathan, Ben (Jill), and Jessica (Beau Barnes); also great-great nieces and nephews, Dustin, Devyn, Joey, Tremain, Emma, Henry, Liam, Briella, Easton, Olivia, and Eve.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Myrtle Eloise and Joyce Rosalie (Julius) Appel; grandparents, Cordelia and John Mullin; aunts, Mabel Mullin and Mayme Burleigh; niece, Mary Ann; and nephew, Dick Appel.
